Sports Hall - Sketch of Exterior

The Sports Hall project had the brief of designing a training centre and under 15s indoor pitch for matches for the Reading Football Club, located in Green Park Reading.

My proposal was to create a two tiered internal structure, thus separating the public and private parts of the centre, notably the raked seating for viewing the matches and the changing rooms for the players. This would then be housed under a single span roof so that the pitch and surrounds would be completely free of columns!

The roof overhung the glazed end panels so that excessive solar gain was avoided. The building would have climate control as roof was to have mechanical ventilation integrated as part of a Building Management System.
