Istanbul - Map, Borderlands and Tethers
This duality was investigated further and the old way of entering the city, the only railway line through the old town was of interest.
The railway line, (border one) of the Orient Express runs adjacent to the ancient coastal defence wall (border two), with lies next to the main modern ring road (border three) which is built on reclaimed land that ends with the sea (border 4). The area between these borders, a borderland, which became the focus of the project.
This plan shows the route of the railway line and the identified borderland to the edge of Istanbul.
