Istanbul - Breaches and Tethers

The Orient Express train whilst travelling into Istanbul passes through the old coastal defence wall nine times creating a slice, a frame, a breach or a rupture.

These breaches in the city wall framed parts of the city as though it was ‘proscenium arch’ from a theatre.

The framing of these elements of city are like tethers attaching themselves to specific parts of the city. The duality of the city brought both old and new together in these tethers.
