Istanbul - Duality of the City

The current way to visit Istanbul is to fly, approaching the city on the new bypass outside of the city wall. Previously the visit was undertaken by train or ship, as the harbour was the reason for the city’s existence.

The contrast of this old and new gave rise to notion of the duality of the city. The city that was held as a luxurious vestige of the rich in the past and that of a dilapidated city of now.
